Who we are

The Little Sisters of St. Therese of the child Jesus are an international religious Congregation dedicated to the apostolic life with perpetual Vows under the protection of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. It was founded in 1923 by Canon Giuseppe Mazzanti and Mother Maria Zanelli. Following the Little way of St. Therese, we dedicate our lives to the service of the church especially among the needy brothers and sisters.

The head quarter is the mother house which is based in Italy where the superior General and her council reside. Each country has a representative known as Delegate and a local superiors who work closely with the Mother General.

Our Charism

The merciful love towards the least of our brothers and sisters, the poor, the destitute, the sick and suffering constitutes the special charisma left by our founders as an inheritance to the institution. The spirituality of our institution consists in a disposition of the heart which renders itself humble and little in the arms of God, conscious of our weakness and having a daring confidence in the Fathers goodness.

Our Spirituality

The Little Sisters of Saint Therese follow the Spirituality of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus which consists: "IN THE DISPOSITION OF THE HEART, WHICH MAKES US HUMBLE AND SMALL IN GODS ARM, CONSCIOUS OF OUR WEAKNESS AND CONFIDENT UP TO AUDACITY IN THE FATHERS GOODNESS".

Our Life of Prayer

In continuous communion with Christ, we nourish our life of prayer by means of Community prayer, the sacred scriptures, and the liturgy; we gain from contemplation and meditation the capacity to see God within ourselves and in all His creation. We feed our lives in the real presence of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament from which is the wellspring and support to religious faithfulness and apostolic work.

Fraternal Life

We live community life whereby we accept each other despite of our differences in backgrounds and giftedness. Our communities are a mystical body in which charity is exercised. In our community living we believe that the soul should be Jesus, the helper Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the encourager St. Therese of the Child Jesus. Every sister strives to make the community a paradise of charity and joyfulness.
